Reno NV Solar Products and Benefits to Consider

Known for getting pretty darn hot, Reno is the tenth sunniest city in the nation, making solar a viable option. This sunny climate pairs well with residential solar, and understandably the solar industry has flourished in Reno as a result.

Although halted for a time by NV Energy’s net metering changes, solar now shines again. Just like the 2017 solar eclipse, a radiant source of power once overshadowed came back to light due to Governor Sandoval’s intervention.

In this post, we look at where the magic starts, the solar panels. Choosing a quality solar panel that will meet the project’s needs can significantly improve the overall efficiency of the system.

Why Solar Panels are Important

Many now have the option to choose solar as their source of power for their homes. With this opportunity comes a selection of solar companies from which Reno residents can choose. Deciding which company to go with has become the new challenge.

While quality customer service and reliable install crew have their places, homeowners should first consider solar module suppliers. The suppliers a solar company uses impacts everything. Solar panels act as the conduit between the sun and electricity. If a homeowner uses low-quality solar panels, the array won’t last as long or produce as much.

Determining the Difference Between Popular Reno Solar Panels

Among the most popular brands, Energy Sage created a list of solar panels that have caught the public eye. Let’s review what each of their monocrystalline solar panels has to offer, so you can compare them more effectively.

LG Monocrystalline Solar Panels

The LG brand is known for quality, and many of its customers attest to this brand’s solar panels being no exception. LG carries a wide variety of module options. However, they have categorized their solar panels into four sections. These include the NeON 2 Panels, NeON R Panels, NeOn R Prime Panels, and the NeON R ACe Panels.

Panel Wattage: Residential solar panels range from 330 to 375 watts.

Panel Efficiency: These modules have efficiency ratings between 19.3-21.7%.

Warranties: 25-year warranty, which states that their solar panels will produce at least 86% of the original power output in the first 25 years.

Place of Manufacture: South Korea and the United States

Silfab Monocrystalline Modules

Panel Wattage: 300 -390 watts

Panel Efficiency: 17.6 – 19.7

Warranties: Silfab carries a 12-year product-workmanship warranty extendable to 25 years. They also have a 30-year linear power performance guarantee, which guarantees 85.1% in 25 years and 82.6% in 30 years.

Place of Manufacture: North America

Solaria Solar Modules

Panel Wattage: 355-440 watts

Panel Efficiency: 19.6 – 20.3%

Warranties: Solaria has a 25-year power, parts, and labor warranty. This warranty guarantees 86% of nominal power.

Place of Manufacture: The United States and South Korea

Sun Power Solar Panels

Sun Power produces several monocrystalline solar panel options, which have become well known and widely used because of their high efficiencies. They set themselves apart from the competition with their new Maxeon solar cell technology, which claims its flexible design eliminates 86 percent of the reasons solar panels fail, by reducing microcracking in the solar cell.

Panel Wattage: Their residential modules range from 320 to 435 watts.

Panel Efficiency:  Efficiencies range from 19.9 – 22.7%

Warranties: Their product warranty lasts 25 years. This warranty guarantees that at the end of 25 years, the solar panels won’t degrade past eight percent of the original power output.

Place of Manufacture: Philippines

Canadian Solar Monocrystalline Module Options

Canadian Solar produces both monocrystalline and polycrystalline solar panels. However, for this comparison, we will only look at their residential monocrystalline options.

Panel Wattages: Their residential monocrystalline wattages range from 300 – 600 watts.

Panel Efficiency: Efficiency ranges between 18.4-21.2%

Warranties: These solar panels have a 12-year product warranty. Depending on the model, they also offer either a 25 or 30-year linear power output warranty. Depending on the product warranty, the guaranteed output could range anywhere from 84.95% to 83.1%.

Place of Manufacture: Asia and America

Hanwha Monocystalline Solar Panels

Under the brand name Hanwha Q CELLS, Hanwha controls both Hanwha Solar and Q CELLS. Let’s look at their monocrystalline options for residential solar.
