Del Sol Energy Competitor Comparison

Nevada homeowners searching for the best solar company will find a wide range of choices, from local installers to national corporations. To aid decision-making, this article compares two competitors in the Reno metropolitan area of Nevada — Go Solar Group and Del Sol Energy — based on their ratings, educational offerings, product choices, and services.

Comparing Customer Sentiment

Both companies have significant know-how and experience with solar energy installations and NV Energy installation guidelines, net metering, and installation checklists. Customer sentiment attests to this expertise.

Del Sol Energy Customer Sentiment

Del Sol Energy, which promotes itself as “a Bay Area company,” was founded in 2015 in Brentwood, Calif., where 15 customers give it an average 4.4-star rating on Google. While this company has more expertise installing in Northern and Southern Nevada than Go Solar Group, their solar installation emphasis is geographically broader than the Reno metropolitan area.

Go Solar Group Customer Sentiment

Founded in 2009, Go Solar Group is on the first page of Reno, Nev., solar companies on Google, with a 4.7-star average score from 31 Nevada customers. As indicated above, despite servicing a smaller solar installation territory, we specialize more in the targeted installation of the Reno metropolitan area.

Educating Customers: A Core Solar Company Service

Both companies place a high value on educating customers about solar products and systems, not just getting as many solar installations in the Nevada area as possible.

Del Solar Energy Solar Company Service

Del Sol Energy explains its services during on-site meetings and visits to its Brentwood, Calif., showroom – 200 miles from Reno. One online reviewer praises the company for “an amazing job explaining everything and answering our many questions.” Del Sol Energy also publishes a blog, which mainly covers California blackouts and utility issues and promotes its California commercial customers.

Go Solar Group: Leading Reno in Market-Specific Information

Go Solar Group publishes a comprehensive blog with market-specific information for all customers. One Nevada reviewer wrote, “Customer service has been fantastic, and the rebate and tax credit were exactly as promised.”

Comparing Solar Product Suites & Expertise

The most important aspect of the product suite for Nevadans in selecting the right solar company usually boils down to choosing the installer with the most efficient solar modules and design/installation credentials. The emphasis on solar panel performance is critical because Reno gets more sunlight hours than other areas in the U.S. and has strong net metering incentives maximized with battery backup and high-efficiency modules.

Go Solar Group Solar Arrays and Modules

Solar company representatives should be able to explain differences among solar panel types, warranties, and efficiency ratings. Go Solar Group offers detailed information about the three brands of modules it installs, namely LG, Silfab, and Q CELLS. We have a strong understanding of how solar panels work. Thus, we’ve been able to create the world’s first periodic table of solar panel elements for Nevada homeowners.

Del Sol Energy Solar Arrays and Modules

Del Sol Energy says on its website that it installs “a variety of industry-proven equipment,” but provides no specifics on the residential installation modules of choice except for CoolPV for pools. While Del Solar doesn’t offer solar panel information, EnergySage states that Del Sol Energy has partnerships with the following solar panel providers:

  • Q CELLS
  • SunPower
  • Canadian Solar
  • Panasonic
  • LG
  • Silfab
  • Solaria

Battery Backup

Home battery backup has become a hot product amid widespread power outages and the need for low-cost power. This is especially true given the increased electricity bills and emergency preparedness necessities imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Go Solar Group Battery Backup Options

Go Solar Group is a Certified Tesla Powerwall Installer of the industry-leading Tesla Powerwall, which integrates seamlessly with home solar array systems to keep appliances running during an outage. For homeowners looking to capitalize on storing power from their modules for use at a later date, the Tesla Powerwall is the industry gold standard for whole-house battery backup and capitalizing on NV Energy’s Net Metering policies and rate schedules.

Del Sol Energy Battery Backup

Del Sol Energy carries the Enphase Encharge home battery, a relatively new Tesla competitor launched in late 2019. Although the Tesla Powerwall is still regarded as the industry leader, the two home-battery products are comparable, industry reviewers say. They also have Generac generators.

Inverters

Inverters are what transduce the solar energy absorbed by the solar modules into usable electricity in your home. Without a high-quality inverter, you will not be able to maximize the return on investment for your installed solar array.

Go Solar Group Inverter: SolarEdge

Our preferred inverter, which we use for all residential solar installations, is SolarEdge. This inverter has a superior range of benefits for the greatest number of installs and comes with a warranty above the industry standard. To learn more about this inverter, visit the inverter section of our product suite home page.

Del Sol Energy: Enphase Microinverter

Enphase Encharge batteries are designed to be integrated with the Enphase microinverter, which has pros and cons for the homeowner. Inverters are essential to convert DC (direct current) energy, which is absorbed by the modules, into AC (alternating current) energy used in your home. Microinverters attach small inverters to the back of each solar panel, enabling each panel to perform well when others are shaded or broken.  Microinverters can be bulky and complicated to install, however. The added rooftop wiring can also increase the risk of a lightning strike.

While this comparison highlights the Enphase inverter, Energy Sage states that Del Sol Energy also has access to SMA and SolarEdge inverters.
